Return on the last days
A rosary of encounters and blessings
Our last week was filled with Quebec friends, Nepalese friends and blessings. After the arrival of our friend Daniel, we took the days more slowly, without ever stopping too much. Adding up meals in our favorite little restaurants, including Café Utpala which is linked to the monastery of our Tibetan master and Café Ugyen which is that of the Shechen monastery, we punctuated our days with different outings and meetings.
I had left some statues with my old monk friend so that he could fill them with mantra scrolls, incense powder and offerings of all kinds. Among the objects to be filled, I had left a small Stupa and salts used in the embalming of my precious first master Lama Zopa Rinpoche so that they could be included with the other filling elements. As always, my good Lama skillfully did the work with his good heart and wise old hands. I had been told about him that he is a siddha (an accomplished being) and every time I find myself in his presence, I know that it is a great blessing for me. Humility, joy and peace of mind take form.
Once filled, the statues and the small stupa were finally blessed by another great master who came from Bhutan to Shechen monastery for a short visit. The day before, I went to carry another small statue, a very beautiful effigy of Dzambhalla which was given to us by our Tamang friends Urmo and Bijay (the one who has painted and provided me numerous Tibetan thankas since 2006). The morning to pic them up arrived, we found ourselves in the heart of a ceremony presided over by Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche, a master who was a privileged student of Dilgo Kyentsé Rinpoche. I was able to enter the monastery, come to him with the four objects on which he threw a few pinches of rice grains while reciting mantras. After the ceremony, a few devotees and I found him in the small living room that is at the top of the monastery where Diego Kyentsé Rinpoche himself used to receive his many visitors. Matthieu Ricard was present in this large room where sits a wax statue of this great, very great master, who educated so many monks who became famous, such as Mathieu Ricard, Jamyang Kyentse Norbu Rinpoche, as well as the Dalai Lama.
Amazingly moving encounters full of blessings!
Blessings also went to a sangha sister from British Columbia who had to undergo major surgery for an advanced cancer. For her, the Shechen monastery agreed to celebrate a special puja on November 30, so that she could go through this ordeal peacefully and have a long life. The next day, she wrote to me that everything went well without pain and that she would obtain the results in a few weeks. I am convinced that everything will be fine.
On the evening of the 30th, I lit a series of offerings, butter lamps, in front of the Great Stupa, under the attentive gaze of one of these numerous stray dogs, two young Tibetan women and my dear Sylvain (he captured this precious moment).
Our friends Katherine and Richard
Then, our last friends arrived, a few days before our departure. Also blessed reunion, another visit of Kopan monastery and Hop! Delhi!
I leave you with these last moments.
It was an extraordinary trip with Sylvain, the dogs…. And everyone!
